Ah, Kazakhstan, vast and intriguing. Has a foot in Europe, the other in Asia, so literally on the global fence. It's a splendid quilt of rugged landscapes, dotted with modern and ancient cities, amongst which sits an orchestra of singing sand dunes. Also, it serves as Earth's backdoor to space - can't argue with that, can we?
